Guidelines For Submitting Content

  1. Eligibility
  • Candle Brain accepts articles, guides, scholarly works, and studies focused on candle-making processes and business. This includes wax melts.
  • Submissions referred to as “papers” or “submissions” should be emailed to askcandlebrain@gmail.com.
  • An editorial board will review for accuracy, and quality, and will make a publishing decision in up to 3 weeks.
  • Authors will receive one of three responses: accepted without changes, accepted with modifications, or refused.
  • Revised versions may be resubmitted and reevaluated.
  1. Submission Guidelines

All submissions must include:

  • Title
  • Author’s full name
  • The sentence “Exclusively written for candlebrain.com” must come immediately after the author’s name.
  • a well worded abstract summarizing key points

Additional details:

  • Submissions must be original work not published elsewhere.
  • Any references and citations should follow APA format.
  • Tables, charts, and images should also be submitted as separate files, labeled and referenced within the text.
  • An author bio of 50-100 words to be included at the end is permitted.
  • Submissions should not contain ad messaging or overt product promotion.
  • The recommended length should be appropriate based on the topic and content of the paper. We are focused on quality content over quantity of content.
  • The editorial board reserves the right to edit submissions for length, clarity, formatting, etc.
  1. Formatting Guidelines
  • The language must be English.
  • Use 11 pt Times New Roman font for body text.
  • Single spacing, no indentations on paragraphs.
  • Title 14 pt bold centered. Author name 12 pt below title.
  • Headings should be bold (first level) and italic (second level).
  • Use active voice and avoid jargon. Write for a general audience.
  • Candle Brain follows the APA style guide for grammar, punctuation, etc.
  1. Citations (for scholarly papers)
  • All facts, figures, and outside information used should include in-text citations.
  • Candle Brain follows APA citation style.
  • In-text citations should include the author’s last name, year of publication, and page number if applicable. Example: (Smith, 2022, p. 42).
  • A full reference list should be included at the end of the paper, alphabetically ordered by the author’s last name.

5. Copyright and Permissions

  • Authors must confirm they have the right to publish the material submitted.
  • Candle Brain will not publish content plagiarized from other sources.
  • Authors must have permission to use any copyrighted images, data, or other materials and provide documentation.
  • Candle Brain holds first worldwide serial rights to publish accepted submissions. Copyright remains with the author.

6. Review Process

  • All submissions are read by the editorial board. Promising submissions are sent for peer review.
  • Reviewers are experts in the submission’s topic area.
  • The review process aims to provide constructive feedback to authors.
  • Reviews are double-blind; author and reviewer names are hidden.
  • Authors will receive compiled feedback and the editorial board’s publishing decision.

7. Appeals Process

  • In cases of rejection, the author may appeal the decision by emailing askcandlebrain@gmail.com.
  • Appeals should provide a detailed response to explain concerns. Additional supporting materials may be included.
  • The editorial board will reconsider the appeal and make a final decision, communicated to the author.

8. Publication Process

  • Accepted articles will undergo copyediting and formatting for consistency.
  • Authors will have the opportunity to review edits/proofs prior to publication.
  • Candle Brain reserves scheduling rights based on topic balance, issue themes, etc.
  • Reproduction, republishing or redistribution by others requires permission.
